New winter storm coming your way!! Are you prepared? Is your workplace prepared? With all the snow lately what is your workplace doing for backup when an employee can't make it in? What can we do to prepare when there's too much snow? Share your thoughts, policies, etc ... anything that can help.

don't get me started. i just had to call a tow truck after i plowed into a snowdrift with a layer of ice underneath. on the way home from work i slid all the way down a hill; thank GOD my car and i are both okay and i only slid into a pile of snow and not a lamppost or another car or a person! it was horrifying sliding and turning and desperately trying to steer and jam on the emergency brake all the while knowing i had no control and had to just pray and wait for those few seconds that felt like an eternity to find out what would happen when we got to the bottom of the hill.

i got home about an hour ago, now surfing AN and youtube to try and calm down and distract myself. i am literally still shaking and feel like i'm going to vomit. i could have died or seriously hurt someone else.

Do what I did fourteen years ago - move from Minnesota to Arizona. There are some things I miss about MN, but snow & ice isn't one of them.

yeah...I'm from Sicily; I love warm weather and don't think I will ever get used to biting cold and ice storms. Unfortunately my partner has a job with the NSA and he really likes it there, so we're stuck in DC.

Good solution! My husband and I are in the middle of moving process from WI to VA, yes there is still the occasional snow in the DC area, but nothing like what we get in Wisconsin!!

I live in Oklahoma and when it snows even an inch, the entire city is thrown into disarray. We are supposed to get ice and up to 3 inches tomorrow night, so I can only assume the local Walmart will be sold out of everything and my friends and I will be preparing for Armageddon.

I grew up in Wisconsin, and snow was just part of winter. No big deal. I have to say, though, that I'm beginning to understand why people move to Florida in their old age! Two more years, and I'm moving south!

Yep! I am just south of you, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, and 0.5 inches of snow accumulation is enough to shut down all commerce here. Meanwhile, people from the Northeast and upper Midwest would snicker at a mere 0.5 inches.

Look at what happened in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. Two inches was enough to wreak havoc in a Southeastern city where nobody knows how to drive on snow or ice.
