This time every year he claims to be sic. I think he just wants to get away and watch football.

There's always one family member who tries to get away to watch some football. Do you have any in your family? Any football fans out there?

For 45 years, fall/Winter weekend plans resolved around Sunday/Monday Eagles Football games: did I have meatballs or hot roast beef w/ rolls , occasional hoagies along with sour cream for onion dip with no salt potato chips.. Year round, hubby would wear Eagles T-shirts, baseball type cap + Spring jacket,  or team logo sweatshirt and Eagles leather jacket or parka with Eagles knit cap if Winter weather.  When he was dying, I even found Eagles velcro shoes + socks, so he could be attired head to toe.  My dear S-I-L sent this Eagles wreath to adorn front door over oxygen sign.  Eagles did not usually play on Thanksgiving day.  I've continued EAGLES passionate viewing past 2 years --expanded to include Kansas City since Andy Reid left Philly. Both sons with no interest in TV sports viewing.

Thanksgiving morning was for ME to attend my HS Alumni Interboro vs. Ridley game or if bad weather, stay indoors to watch Philadelphia's Thanksgiving Parade, never that Macy one while getting Turkey ready for family dinner.

Now my siblings and father's passion was Phillies baseball, so no problems at our Thanksgiving table.

What are Joe V's and others gobble, gobble day memories?

BIG pro football fan here. I have a favorite team in each conference (AFC—Los Angeles Chargers, and NFC—Seattle Seahawks) but I’ll watch other games throughout the week too. That way I can root for other teams to knock off the ones I don’t like…I won’t say “hate”, but I really have nothing nice to say about those organizations, which include the Patriots and Raiders. Haha!

I am the sports fan in our household, I like it all but football is definitely King. While it's not a Thanksgiving tradition the Super Bowl is well, the Super Bowl and I haven't worked a Super Bowl Sunday in probably 20 years at least. Always took a vacation day when I worked LTC, planned and approved well in advance. Now I work in Dialysis and our clinic isn't open Sundays so no worries about not getting the day off. Another big positive for switching to that job for me, LOL!

Did I go on a group vacation with you? Because on one of my European vacations, there was a small group streaming the Eagles on their cell phone under the dinner table

No travels to Europe..... guess they are kindred spirits as Eagles fans known to be rabid for EAGLES game viewing/news during the season.

We do not care for football, our family holidays are not for watching football games except for superbowl. We realize there is a lot of money riding on the win,but conversation ,dancing with family is what we prefer, to each his own.

Then you must be overly excited right about now with the undefeated record thanks to Mr. Hurts.  WEll, I'm happy for you too!!

HUGE Football Fan as well.  Grew up with it, had no choice really.  I do have a favorite team but it's not worth arguing over so I'll keep them to myself, (real football fans understand) but I do have a team I despise, and they have a blue and white star on their helmets.

I also like certain players but not necessarily root for their team, I just like to watch certain star players play, so I too watch all of the games or try to go if my team plays them.  This really is the BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!

Turkey still defrosting...grrr....

My 45 yo enameled roaster makes the moistest Turkey --can hold  a 26 lb bird--going with just 16lb as only 3 for dinner.

Making breakfast sausage casserole now for son to pop into oven tomorrow morning.   Easy sides tomorrow.   Dessert request: only Cinnamon Rolls...no pumpkin pie this year.

Hope everyone has enjoyable time with family and friends.
